SAN FRANCISCO February 14, 2013: Sensear, a world leader in the development and manufacture of high noise communication headsets, today launched a new campaign designed to increase awareness of the risks associated with traditional hearing protection.
Sensear’s new campaign kicks off with a White Paper titled “Your Existing Hearing Protection Solutions are Causing Accidents. What You Can Do About It.”. The White Paper highlights the inherent risks of workers trying to protect their hearing by wearing products that reduce their ability to hear what’s going on around them.
According to David Cannington CMO Sensear “Traditional Hearing Protection may protect a workers hearing, but it reduces that workers ability to hear what’s going on around them. It is one of the only Personal Protective Products that attempts to protect a sense, in this case hearing, by compromising the effective use of that sense. This inevitably leads to the risk of accidents in the workplace ”
Sensear markets a range of high noise communication digital headsets that deliver a safe but effective form of hearing protection. Sensear’s patented SENS technology uses smart algorithms to allow workers to hear speech and protect their hearing while remaining aware of their surroundings.
When workers think of protecting their ears from dangerous noise they automatically think of technologies like “Noise Cancellation” or “Active Noise Control” which are found in a widening range of consumer headsets or other industrial headset products.
David Cannington says Sensear approaches the problem differently. “ANC or Noise Cancellation delivers the same result relating to situational awareness as 10 cent disposal ear plug. Sensear is different because we elevate speech above the noise, but ensure the noise is still heard at a safe level so that wearers can maintain situational awareness and therefore be safer.
Although companies do not publish or admit accidents that are caused by workers not having situational awareness, there are thousands of accidents that are caused for this reason. Risk prevention can only be achieved by the full use of your two critical senses: Hearing and Seeing. It stands to reason if either of these senses is compromised, workers are less safe.
To highlight its point the new White Paper asks the question “Would workers wear protective glasses if they were blacked over? Then why should we expect workers to wear hearing protection that reduced their ability to hear?
Sensear plans to roll out its Safe Hearing Protection Campaign through advertising in Health and Safety Publications and an extensive Social Media campaign through Twitter, Linkedin and other social channels.
